The Hogar Albergue para Ninos Jesus de Nazaret is a non-profit that began in 1991 and serves children who are victims of child abuse and sexual abuse. The facility provides temporary shelter for children who have been removed from their homes. Since opening, the home has provided shelter to more than 740 children from 48 municipalities in Puerto Rico.
The El Santuario de Animales San Francisco de Asís was founded in 2008 and is one of four “no-kill” shelters in Puerto Rico. The shelter houses animals with special needs who are abandoned, and workers provide them with medical care and a place to live. Animals who are not adopted remain at the sanctuary permanently.
As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, HORNE employees will vote on non-profits nominated from six regions where the firm serves in the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The foundation, on behalf of HORNE, will award $60,000 every week for six weeks, for a total of $360,000.
“Throughout the past 60 years, HORNE has grown from a local accounting practice to a nationwide professional services firm with a mission of delivering with care,” said Neil Forbes, HORNE’s managing partner. “We live and work in the very communities where these worthy organizations are serving and we’re proud to give back to those who are doing so much good.”
The HORNE Community Foundation was established by the firm’s partners in 2021 to provide financial support to the areas where team members live and serve.
