As a partner in HORNE’s Government Services, Alethia Thomas leads a growing team of professionals who help clients innovatively and compassionately face today’s most complex issues.
After living through Hurricane Katrina, Alethia shifted her 10+ year career at HORNE to disaster recovery. Throughout her tenure, her impact grew by helping states and government agencies design and implement federally funded programs to rebuild communities after disasters. Alethia’s firsthand experience translated to her now leading disaster recovery programs in Mississippi, Texas, New York, California, Colorado, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
A pioneer in purpose-driven leadership, Alethia harnesses her team’s collective, diversified power to create lasting value for clients and communities. Alethia is passionate about leading inclusivity and helping others reach their full potential.
As the previous chair of the Belonging at HORNE committee, she promotes an environment that encourages a culture of belonging by valuing differences and providing all team members opportunities to reach their full potential. She advocates for inclusive culture and continuous innovation, empowering her teams to challenge orthodoxies, collaborate across borders, and take a modern and agile approach to problem-solving. She believes in developing the next generation of transformative leaders and inspiring HORNE team members to build the careers they want.
Alethia, who has over 20 years of experience in government programs and project management, earned her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Belhaven University and was recognized as one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women and The Houston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award.
