HORNE team members voted for Friends of Children’s Hospital as the winner of $50,000, with Make-A-Wish® Mississippi coming in second with an award of $10,000.
Friends of Children’s Hospital was founded in 1989 and supports Mississippi’s only pediatric hospital. The group’s mission is to elevate the healthcare experience for children in Mississippi to create hope, smiles and a place where patients can be kids.
The group has raised nearly $30 million to build facilities, purchase needed equipment and provide caring services for hospitalized kids and their families
Make-A-Wish® Mississippi grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The group serves 65 counties across the lower two-thirds of the state and helps children focus on their hopes and dreams rather than their fears and pain.
As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, HORNE employees have voted on non-profits nominated from six regions where the firm serves in the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The foundation, on behalf of HORNE, has awarded $60,000 every week for six weeks, for a total of $360,000.
“Throughout the past 60 years, HORNE has grown from a local accounting practice to a nationwide professional services firm with a mission of delivering with care,” said Neil Forbes, HORNE’s managing partner. “We live and work in the very communities where these worthy organizations are serving and we’re proud to give back to those who are doing so much good.”
The HORNE Community Foundation was established by the firm’s partners in 2021 to provide financial support to the areas where team members live and serve.
