HORNE donates $60,000 to charities in California and Utah

RIDGELAND, Mississippi, September 6, 2022 – Two non-profits soon will receive support for their community efforts thanks to HORNE and the HORNE Community Foundation. HORNE team members voted for the Davis Education Foundation in Farmington, Utah, as the winner of $50,000 with the United Friends of the Children in Los Angeles County, California, coming in second with an award of $10,000.

The Davis Education Foundation began in 1982 to help schools, students and teachers. Its mission is to help homeless high school students in Davis County by building centers within schools. These drop-in centers will provide education and community services so students receive help with daily and future needs.

The United Friends of the Children began in 1979 and has worked to help young people in foster care become self sufficient with education and housing through advocates and helping them develop relationships with people in the community.

As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, HORNE employees will vote on non-profits nominated from six regions where the firm serves in the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The foundation, on behalf of HORNE, will award $60,000 every week for six weeks, for a total of $360,000.

“Throughout the past 60 years, HORNE has grown from a local accounting practice to a nationwide professional services firm with a mission of delivering with care,” said Neil Forbes, HORNE’s managing partner. “We live and work in the very communities where these worthy organizations are serving and we’re proud to give back to those who are doing so much good.”

The HORNE Community Foundation was established by the firm’s partners in 2021 to provide financial support to the areas where team members live and serve.
